It is very tiresome listening to people talk about the Israel Palestine conflict, because at bottom the majority of people who care about the subject, don't want to engage in any constructive or meaningful dialogue.

They want to feel like warriors "fighting to free an oppressed people", like they are a part of "the axis of resistance", like they are doing something to "combat injustice and fight 'imperialism'".

Those who show remarkable intellectual refinement and erudition in other areas, unsurprisingly lose all sense of balance or objectivity when discussing a war, in which one side actively tries to maximise their own civilian casualties for propaganda value, and when a global movement; at least one State; and numerous large, non state, paramilitary political groups devote remarkable amounts of time, energy, and money, towards proliferating images and narratives of maimed children, designed to emotionally manipulate western audiences and consumers of media, and leverage that propaganda value against Israel.

The only voice I am interested in hearing on this subject, is the one which is drowned out by well meaning Western commentators, and actively suppressed by their own governments; namely that of the Palestinian/Lebanese/Yemeni or Iranian people.

I'm not talking about the elected spokespeople, who are given media, communications training, scripts and platforms by those same Paramilitary political groups etc,. but the actual captive populations within the ghettoes those political groups have created.

All this ceaseless chatter from the Western commentariat does, is demonstrate a lack of and desire for, power, influence, and control, by means of appeals to pathos, ostracization, and misrepresentation of pertinent historical facts. (the parallel with various populist movements on the opposite side of the political spectrum is obvious.)

The active force (Hamas & their backers) is disavowed in the fetish "palestinian people", which is treated as a monolith and prop, by naive Westerners who construct a fantasy of ‘the poor Palestinian victims and evil right wing Israeli colonists’, based on their own binary understanding of the World and reality.
